Lydia found Johnny Appleseed dead in his cage this afternoon. As much as I made fun of him, I am sad that he is gone. Because this was the fourteenth day after his purchase, Lydia is able to go get a new gerbil for free from PetSmart. She just left to go pick him out -- his name will be Johnny Peachpit.
**edit: She just arrived home, and surprise surprise, she got two gerbils. The other one is named Paul Bunyan. While the little kids were chattering about the new additions to our household, I was preparing the family dinner. My mom stepped in the room and I absentmindedly asked her "How do you cook gerbils??" yuk~ didn't mean to say that.... I meant to say "How do you cook green beans?"

I'm sad to hear about Johnny Appleseed, but you asking your mom how to cook gerbils was HILARIOUS! LOL I hope Peachpit and Paul last a bit longer than poor Applesead
hahahah yeah, my mom thought it was hilarious too...
Yeah I guess that I hope they last longer than Appleseed too....despite the fact that they keep me up at night with their incessant noise.... I just don't want to see Lydia crying again.
Wow, Johnny Peachpit is a hilarious name. I was seriously "laughing out loud" :P
Was Lydia around when you asked how to cook gerbils???? Because if she was her face must have been hilarious. :) haha
hahahha no, she was in her room then fawning over her new gerbils. ;)
one of my friends told me that when her brothers were little, they put their wet hampster in the microwave to "dry off." gagggg you might imagine what then happened.
Oh, Joanna that is just messed up....
just sayin....
(oh and they really thought in all innocence that it would simply dry the hampster off...)
That's.. that's... oh gosh. that's disgusting... I think i've heard of people doing that, but oh man...
