I just got into a heated argument with Lydia.
Her opinion is that photographers are not artists, because they just make a copy of an image which is already there....they do not make their work with their own hands, like painters/sculptors/etc do...they don't form something out of raw material...
I say that they are artists, considering all of the creativity that goes into their work, both before and after taking the photo. I would not say that taking a quick snapshot is art (just as a stick figure wouldn't be art) but a carefully & aesthetically composed/captured/edited photograph would be. Especially if there is concept & meaning to the work.
What do you think?

hahahah yeah...we have been arguing about the littlest things lately.
i sort of see where she is coming from, but my side is still more reasonable. ;)
I was checking my blogger account and I must be following you (I don't remember clicking follow or anything but whatever). Anyways My opinion is that Photography is an art. I also think that TV Shows, Movies, Music, Video Games, and Books are art as well. Really anything that shows creativity can be called art.
Yeah I agree with you, but I see where she's coming from as well... I think photographers enhance what is already there, making it look even better. Some photographers are photoshop-ers as well, which is definitely art!

I would say photography is art, hence photographers are artists. Ask Lydia if she has ever seen any of Joel Grimes' photos, if she hasn't then show her some of them and I think she will be convinced haha.

Kaylee: That's my viewpoint as well. And yeah, some photoshop-ers are waaay artistic.

Photographers are definitely artists! Yes, the photographs we take are of things we have not necessarily created but what the Creator has made. He gives us an eye to see His art in a different way and capture it for others to see it in a different way.
