O Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo?

Yesterday afternoon we went to see the production of Romeo and Juliet. It was performed by the travelling National Ballet of Ukraine and Kyiv Symphony Orchestra, as well as a local ballet. It was actually free (!), since it was the rehearsal before their big performance the next night. (Where tickets sold for $30.) They encouraged middle and highschoolers from homeschool groups and Christian schools especially to come and see the rehearsal. I think a thousand people or so showed up to see it.

One of the most amazing ballerinas in Ukraine, Olena Filipeva (I think that's how you spell it), played Juliet. She was beautiful. There were no words spoken, the story was told through their actions, facial expressions, dance, music, and set. It was absolutely spectacular. And I loved their costumes...mainly for the girls though...'cause uh.. the men in tights thing was weird.

I wish I could've taken lots of pictures, but they didn't allow flash photography. That ruled my Canon film camera with great zoom out, and my point-and-shoot + flash turned off = bad pictures. The few I took were blurry.

We bumped into a lot of people from the homeschool group/co-op we went to up until I was in 6th grade. A few moms were like "Hi! You're Virginia's daughter! I remember you! And I still read all about your family in your mom's newsletter!" I would have no clue what their name was, but I would smile and say "HI! Yeah... mhm...I remember you! Yeah..uh..how ya doing?" and then turn to my mom afterwards and hiss "who are they?"
But I got to talk to old friends I was in classes with several years ago. That was interesting, fun...a little bit awkward... :)

(A couple years ago, Rachel and Lydia did a little impromptu skit of Romeo and Juliet. It was hilarious. Lydia was Romeo, and she was from *modern times,* a street rapper. Rachel was Juliet from the middle ages, and dressed in a long sparkly skirt, she would cry "O Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo!" Lydia would then come up rapping, saying "hey babe!" or something like that. Fun stuff.)

If you got to the bottom of this post, I am surprised!! it was probably pretty lonnggg and boring. :p

goodbye.
