There's this garage sale a couple streets over.
I first went over there yesterday, and there was this big table of teacups and saucers from all over the world (i.e. Iceland, Greece, Japan, Switzerland). They were gorgeous, some with a mother-of-pearl sheen on them. I only had enough money on me to buy one though - a hand-painted Chinese teacup. I love the color and design of it. The lady was telling me all about them. In the '60s, her dad was in the military, and her mom collected the teacups from wherever they were stationed around the world. It was very interesting.
I just went over there again today, and I bought the weirdest items - European beer coasters from the '60s. (The lady's dad collected them from pubs in Ireland, England, Germany, etc. where he was stationed.) She sold all 35 of them to me for $1. (Although I sold half to Lydia.) They're pretty cool - different shapes and colors...some have pictures of castles or the like on them. Eh, they struck my fancy.
I don't know what I'll do with them yet. Maybe I'll make a vintage-y collage with some of them to put on my wall! That might be weird to some people though. ;) ah well, I think I just might do it.
adieu,
joanna
