Bargains

{{Yesterday afternoon}}

"Hey! Hey Joanna! Wanna come to my store?”

Ben kinda bounced around on his tiptoes, waiting for me to reply.
“Sure!!” I said.

He leads me to his room where he had arranged an enticing display of stuffed animals, toy trucks, and the like on his bed. Each of them had a paper tag with a price scrawled across it. I noticed a small stuffed bear I had given to Naomi, who gave it to Ben, who decided to sell it. Since he really wanted a customer, I figured I would buy it back.

“Hey Beeb, how much does that bear cost? I can‘t read what you said on the tag.”
“Ten dollars!!” was his prompt reply.
“Hmmm…don’t think I can afford that! Can you lower the price?”
“Okay! You can buy it for free…or for cents!” he offered generously.
“How about this - I’ll give you 50 cents!”
“YAYYY!!!” He bounced even higher on his tiptoes.

I went to my room to retrieve the change, and came back. His eyes grew as big as the quarters. He plunked them in his blue money box, where one little dime lay. Then he skipped off to find another customer. He just made me laugh!! I love how little kids get so excited about small things.

{{This afternoon}}
Naomi is asking me to come to her store to pay for something Melody wants. "It's only 5 cents!" she says. Mel is eyeing me expectantly, so I will take my leave....

I'm back from Naomi's "store." Mel wanted a mini Shrek flashlight, but when I paid for it, she decided she wanted the pennies I was giving to Naomi more. (She likes the shiny-ness.) She eventually stopped sobbing "Moneyyyyyyyyyyyyy!" and decided she liked the flashlight.

Wacky kids. ;)
